As part of our work we frequently refurbish entire properties. This is the Kitchen of a full house renovation we have completed.
The space initially started as two rooms, a crowded galley Kitchen and a separate toilet and utility room. While it was preferable to retain a toilet on the ground floor of this three storey, four bedroom townhouse, it was decided to open up the majority to a large Kitchen with space for a table and chairs.
The side elevation was suffering from rising damp as well as being neglected and in poor repair throughout. Dismantling the Kitchen units, hacking off the walls, taking down the ceiling and removing the flooring really was the best way forward. The partition wall was removed and the space was starting to look more suited to a family Kitchen.
In order to remedy the rising damp a chemical damp proof course (DPC) was injected. One window was remove and blocked up to allow for wall units and the remaining window was resized so that the sill was above worktop height, before rendering and re-plastering to specification.
All new electrics were installed along with the help of Paul from Ocean Electrical and a Combination Boiler to provide heating and hot water, for this we called in Mike from MJS Plumbing and Heating. Both of these tradesman are excellent and provided full safety certificates and guarantees on completion.
The toilet was replaced and a new partition and door installed. The Kitchen was designed to have ample storage while still allowing room for a dining area and completed with tiling, decoration and flooring.
